The Journey

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. When I was young I would draw my favorite cartoon characters and doodle on my homework. I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. That desire never went away.

I cast a wide net trying to find my path as an artist learning from university intructors and professional artists alike. Using various mediums on subjects such as portraits, comics, landscapes, and even children’s book illustration I stumbled for many years looking for that place where passion and skill meet. Finally on a warm, sunny day in the spring of 2020 my family went outside for some arts and craft time together. While my wife and kids painted the afternoon away I picked up some charcoal and began drawing a cheetah relaxing in grass. It wasn’t a great drawing but it was enough to spark hope and a new direction.

I enjoy watching animals whether in the wild, a park, zoo, documentary or my own backyard and I relish the challenge of drawing the animals I see there. I hope fitting these passions together benefits the world.

Joining me on this journey are my beautiful wife, Hannah, our four charming children, and two dogs, along with countless birds, squirrels and other visitors to our North Alabama home who may or may not be aware they are on this ride, too.
